The air quality in Ukraine is expected to significantly deteriorate in the coming days. In some regions of the country, the air will be unhealthy, while in others it will be very unhealthy.
This is evidenced by data from the Ventusky portal. It is noted that a cloud of polluted air will blanket Ukraine on Thursday, February 13.
The situation will be worst in Zhytomyr, where pollution levels are expected to reach 317 units (very unhealthy).
There will also be polluted air in the Kyiv region, with pollution levels at 83 units (unhealthy).
In the Kharkiv region, near the city of Lozova, pollution levels will also rise to 91 on February 13.
The air quality index is calculated using the NowCast formula (US EPA) for the main air pollutant – fine particulate matter of the PM2.5 fraction. Among the health effects of inhaling such air may be: discomfort in breathing for individuals with lung diseases, such as asthma.
As a reminder, earlier "Telegraph" reported that severe frosts down to -18 degrees will arrive in Ukraine. Before this, according to meteorological forecasts, a slight warming is expected.
