In Romania, three Ukrainians got lost in the Maramureș Mountains due to deteriorating weather conditions. After extensive searches, they were located by Romanian rescuers.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Digi24.

On the night of December 25, Romanian rescuers received a report that three Ukrainians were lost in the Maramureș Mountains. The mountain rescue service arrived at the coordinates provided by the Ukrainians but did not find them there.

After 12 hours, the search for the Ukrainians was called off in Romania. It was noted that they did not heed instructions and left the location where they were supposed to wait for help.

However, today after lunch, the head of the mountain rescue service, Sabin Cornoiu, reported that the three Ukrainians who had been searched for since the previous day had been found alive.

"Rescuers expanded the search area and hoped to also use a helicopter for aerial observation, but the weather conditions were not the best. Therefore, the search was conducted using ground methods, and fortunately, we guessed correctly about the area where they might be," he explained.

According to Cornoiu, the travelers were found in a very dangerous gorge.

One of them sustained multiple injuries from a fall, while the other two experienced mild hypothermia. All three Ukrainians were hospitalized.

The head of the rescue service noted that the authorities "will continue legal steps to ensure that these citizens have the right to remain in Romania."

Recall that recently in the mountains of Romania near the border with Ukraine, a Ukrainian was discovered who had fallen into a mountain gorge. He was assisted by rescuers.
