For three days, they wandered in the mountains: border guards apprehended the draft dodgers.
Border guards from the Mukachevo unit apprehended two conscripted men who had been wandering in the mountains for three days in an attempt to illegally enter Romania. This was reported by UNN citing the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU).
Details
It was noted that during the patrol of a high-altitude area, the officers spotted human footprints in the snow. Just 10 meters from the border, law enforcement caught up with the violators, who tried to flee. Hearing warning shots behind them, the exhausted fugitives halted.
The detainees explained that they had independently charted a route to Romania and had been trekking through the mountains since February 4. The men were extremely fatigued and were taken to the border unit, where they warmed up, rested, and had a meal.
The case has been forwarded to court.
